North Queensland Youth Alcohol + Other Drug Service
Support That Gets You – AOD Help, Your Way – in Community or Residential Services
North Queensland Youth Alcohol + Other Drug Service combines a Community Based AOD Treatment Program and a Residential Rehabilitation Program (Opening late 2025). This service is delivered in partnership – YETI, Gindaja Treatment and Healing Indigenous Corporation, YSAS, Queensland Health and Education Queensland.
The combined programs support young people in North Queensland, aged up to 25 years, experiencing moderate to severe problematic alcohol and other drug use including a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families.
The community-based program offers flexible, community-based support for young people aged up to 25. Whether you’re living at home or in the community, we provide tailored counselling and case management to help you manage your alcohol and drug use. We offer:
- Flexible, community-based support, with services that fit your lifestyle.
- Counselling & Case Management tailored to your needs, with a focus on harm minimisation.
- Access to additional supports, such as life skills-building and connections to further resources.
The residential program will offer round-the-clock support for young people needing help with alcohol and other drug use, with a strong focus on cultural safety and family connection.
The program is designed for young people aged 13—18 experiencing moderate to severe substance use, available to residents of North Queensland, specifically targeting the Cairns and Hinterland and Torres and Cape regions. It will provide:
- 24/7 support in a safe, structured environment.
- Comprehensive care, providing holistic and culturally responsive support through individual and group interventions, addressing AOD use, physical and mental health, and educational access. Continued care is provided for young people in the community to ensure that positive outcomes are maintained.
If you or someone you know needs to access the either of the NQYAODS programs, please contact us for more info.
